Book Description:

Since Lucifer claimed victory at Armageddon, demons, angels, and humans have coexisted in uneasy harmony. Those with waning magic are trained to maintain peace and order. But hostilities are never far from erupting…

After years of denying her abilities, Noon Onyx, the first woman in history to wield waning magic, has embraced her power. She’s won the right to compete in the prestigious Laurel Crown Race—an event that will not only earn her the respect of her peers but also, if she wins, the right to control her future.

However, Noon’s task is nearly impossible: retrieve the White Heart of Justice, a mythical sword that disappeared hundreds of years ago. The sword is rumored to be hidden in a dangerous region of Halja that she is unlikely to return from. But Noon’s life isn’t the only thing hanging in the balance. The sword holds an awesome power that, in the wrong hands, could reboot the apocalypse—and Noon is the only one who can prevent Armageddon from starting again…

Urban Fantasy / Sci-Fi Romance
Book #3 Can be Read as a Standalone.
Date Published: December 15, 2013

Book description:
Thanks to a magical transplant from an inter-dimensional enforcer, Hailey Parrish can transform into a hawk. When someone begins dismembering hikers along the Appalachian Trail, the enforcers make use of her feathery talents to pursue the killer. Unfortunately, like most things in Hailey’s life, there is nothing ordinary about the assignment. Their target turns out to be maddeningly elusive, they rescue a stray dog that makes a sewage treatment plant seem pleasantly fragrant, and stopping the murders turns out to be the least of their worries.

Special Attraction, the third book in the Coursodon Dimension series, combines paranormal romance, urban fantasy, a bit of science fiction and a healthy dose of quirky humor.

My opinion:

This is the third book of the series but it can be read without reading the previous two.

The first paragraph is the brilliant start for this story. You read about a scene of massacre that made me what to know more. The plot is original and the book is very well written. The story is full of paranormal elements, suspense and mystery. I absolutely loved this.

Hailey Parrish is a very special and unusual main character. We read her perspective of things, since she is the narrator of the story. She has to investigate unusual crimes, but she doesn’t do it alone.

The characters are amazing. I loved Hailey, Alex and Sebastian and the relationship between all of them. They have strong personalities and a fantastic sense of humour.

The love story between Hailey and Alex is on the background. I consider that it is a good addition to the story, but not too much to distract you from the main plot.

The killer has a signature: body parts left around, which led to a dead end. Hailey and Alex have to find the killer in order to stop him from killing again, but that won’t be an easy task. There are some paragraphs that made jump of my chair with the will of knowing what was going to happen after that.

The book is easy to read, especially because M.L. Ryan made it so interesting.

I’m not going to write more because I don’t want to spoil this story for any of those who decide to read it.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read paranormal romance or urban fantasy.

 About the author:

M.L. Ryan isMLRyan blackandwhite a professional woman – which is not to say that she gave up her amateur status, but rather that she is over-educated with a job that reflects her one-time reluctance to leave school and get “real” work – and she spends a lot of time in that profession reading highly techni
cal material.
She has many stories rolling around in her head, and she finally decided to write some of them. She prefers literature that isn’t saddled with excruciating symbolism, ponderous dialogue or worldly implications. She also doesn’t like plots so reliant on love at first sight that it makes her feel like her head might implode.
She lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and teenage son, four cats, two dogs and an adopted desert tortoise.

Book Tour: Finding Me by Dawn Brazil – Book Review

Reading Addiction Blog Tours

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Kindle and paperback    |    Kindle and paperback

finding me

Young Adult Urban Fiction
Sixteen-year-old Chloe Carmichael’s perfect world is in chaos.

It’s not because she has a vision of her boyfriend murdered. And then he’s found dead exactly as she saw. It’s not because she suddenly has the ability to move objects when she’s upset. It’s kinda cool to close a door without touching it. It’s not her overbearing mother who only cares about appearances. Chloe’s grown accustomed to her family's distance.

So what has Chloe cringing in fear?

It’s a love that defies reason. It’s a love that speaks to the heart. It demands attention. But Chloe struggles with a love that exposes the soul. What will her family think? What will her friends think? And is she worthy of his love.

And it’s having to become another person for a new group of people. Chloe knows she’s not perfect but apparently she was when she was Amanda in another life. Her new friends won’t let her forget. It’s the stench of death that hoovers over her every move. It’s the threat of finality as she tries to acclimate to a life of super human proportions. It’s an enemy she can’t see, doesn’t remember, and can be anyone she’s ever known. But her enemy knows her well. She’s the lone person with the knowledge to destroy him. But she doesn't remember.

And it’s never discovering who she really is before finality meets reality.

My opinion:

Finding Me by Dawn Brazil was an amazing surprise. I absolutely loved it.

This is the story about Chloe who is apparently just a girl like many of other girls. Her life changes suddenly and she it takes time to understand her new self.

We follow her in her adventures, encounters, thoughts and dreams. After a tragic moment that you read about in the beginning of the book Chloe meets Chris, a new boy at school. This seems a little bit of a chiché but I think that the original plot makes these little things have a different impact.

After meeting Chis, the story really begins. Chloe finds out she can do things that seem impossible and she has a hard time understanding and accepting it. She needs answers that are not given to her from the beginning. Fantasy is all around, however sometimes Chloe has some troubles bearing the reality among the magic. While she has no answers, Chloe has a hard time trying to pretend everything is normal and the same; when the answers start to come up it doesn’t become that much easier either.

I love the writing. It’s easy to read but at the same time is thrilling and very emotional at times. I was hooked from the beginning. I didn’t feel like this with a book for some time now, even if the latest books I read were really good. I could picture many of the scenes in my mind so perfectly. It also has some good twists in the story, which made me want to read more to see what was going to happen next. Dawn Brazil made an excellent job.

The plot is good and original, yet simple which makes it a pleasant reading. Some of the parts were really surprising and you can find some suspense and mystery until the end. The characters are well built. I loved Chloe, Chris and even Samantha.

The love story is a good addition to the plot, not distracting the reader from the rest of the story. It’s a teenager love story like many others, but the originality of the plot and the characters in it made it special.

The ending is another twist, I wasn’t expecting it. If a sequel for this book comes out, I will definitely read it.

If you like YA books you should read this book.

Hang in Balance – Daniel Waples

I’m always searching for new music, trying to find artists that are different from those we listen to on almost every radio station.

I found this artist randomly on the internet, in a video where he was playing on the street. I simply loved it, so I took a chance and visited his website.

This is Daniel Waples, from London. He got his first Hand Pan in 2007, he supports himself as an independent musician and thanks each and every individual for the time they spend listening to his work. (via

I’ve heard street artists playing the hang before and I can tell you that for me it’s even better when it’s live, but this is a way of sharing with you some great music.

I’m sharing with you at the end of this post one of his albums. You can listen and buy his music on In this one he plays the hang and Flavio Lopez plays the violin. These two instruments together is Magic!

While you listen, please read this that he wrote on his Facebook page

All of my music is again 'Download by Donation', which means YOU set the price of how much to pay...Please share this link with your friends & family.

“Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give.” ― Ben Carson
*Why not set a price?*

I have a passion for creating music and it is my dream that as many people as possible can enjoy this music regardless of being able to contribute financially.

This does not mean that I wish for everyone to take my life's work for free, but rather that I ask you to treat the downloads that I offer in much the same way as you would a musician whom you see performing live music on the streets, in a train station, market or anywhere else performing with the intention of entertaining passers by and providing a soundtrack to their daily lives and in return simply putting their hat around the crowd to collect tips and contributions from those inspired and able to give something back. For this reason much of my music can be downloaded from my website for any donation, ranging from nothing to anything that you are able to contribute.

We are now living in a wonder era where Internet based social mediums are available almost everywhere to practically everyone. In terms of human sociology the textbooks say we have never been as connected as we are right now in this very moment.

I have dedicated pretty much my everything, and sometimes more, to introduce this art into people lives across our globe. I do this by investing everything I can back into my mission.

If you enjoy my work and you are in a position to do so then I invite you to contribute and support for a download, buying any of my physical merchandise or indeed making a donation via PayPal.
I also encourage you to share this music with friends and family but I do ask that you pass on the link to my website so that they can find out the story behind ‘Daniel Waples - Hang in Balance’ and thus connect with the music in a more integral way.

If my music is to be used for your own projects, be it a YouTube video from your family holidays or a commercial advertising campaign, express permission from myself must be granted prior to posting online.
I thank each and every listener for his or her attention.

Daniel Waples – Hang in Balance

I hope you can take some minutes to listen to this amazing artist, and I hope you enjoy his music as much as I do.
