Urban Fantasy / Sci-Fi Romance Book #3 Can be Read as a Standalone. Date Published: December 15, 2013 Book description: Thanks to a magical transplant from an inter-dimensional enforcer, Hailey Parrish can transform into a hawk. When someone begins dismembering hikers along the Appalachian Trail, the enforcers make use of her feathery talents to pursue the killer. Unfortunately, like most things in Hailey’s life, there is nothing ordinary about the assignment. Their target turns out to be maddeningly elusive, they rescue a stray dog that makes a sewage treatment plant seem pleasantly fragrant, and stopping the murders turns out to be the least of their worries. Special Attraction, the third book in the Coursodon Dimension series, combines paranormal romance, urban fantasy, a bit of science fiction and a healthy dose of quirky humor.
This is the third book of the series but it can be read without reading the previous two.
The first paragraph is the brilliant start for this story. You read about a scene of massacre that made me what to know more. The plot is original and the book is very well written. The story is full of paranormal elements, suspense and mystery. I absolutely loved this.
Hailey Parrish is a very special and unusual main character. We read her perspective of things, since she is the narrator of the story. She has to investigate unusual crimes, but she doesn’t do it alone.
The characters are amazing. I loved Hailey, Alex and Sebastian and the relationship between all of them. They have strong personalities and a fantastic sense of humour.
The love story between Hailey and Alex is on the background. I consider that it is a good addition to the story, but not too much to distract you from the main plot.
The killer has a signature: body parts left around, which led to a dead end. Hailey and Alex have to find the killer in order to stop him from killing again, but that won’t be an easy task. There are some paragraphs that made jump of my chair with the will of knowing what was going to happen after that.
The book is easy to read, especially because M.L. Ryan made it so interesting.
I’m not going to write more because I don’t want to spoil this story for any of those who decide to read it.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read paranormal romance or urban fantasy.
About the author:
M.L. Ryan is a professional woman – which is not to say that she gave up her amateur status, but rather that she is over-educated with a job that reflects her one-time reluctance to leave school and get “real” work – and she spends a lot of time in that profession reading highly techni
She has many stories rolling around in her head, and she finally decided to write some of them. She prefers literature that isn’t saddled with excruciating symbolism, ponderous dialogue or worldly implications. She also doesn’t like plots so reliant on love at first sight that it makes her feel like her head might implode.
She lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and teenage son, four cats, two dogs and an adopted desert tortoise.
